Hold on to Hope Card

I designed the Hold on to Hope card to show a fun technique using the positive and negative cut outs of dies. This is an inlaid technique and it's simple to do and results in a very impressive look.

The stamp set I used was Stampin' Up! Hold on to Hope. It's a new set that will be available in January for purchase. This set has a coordinating die set called Cross of Hope Framelits.

The materials:

White thick cardstock
-cut at 3 1/4' x 4 1/4", a scrap piece of white cardstock to glue on die cut, and a 1/2" strip
Black cardstock
-cut at 3 1/2" x 4 1/2", a piece cut at 3"x 3" for die cutting, and a 3/4" strip
Emerald Envy cardstock cut at 4 1/4" x 11", Then folded at 5 1/2" to make the card base
Yellow cardstock cut at 3"x 3" for die cutting

Stampin' Up! die set
Big Shot die cutter
Emerald Envy ink pad
Memento Black Tuxedo ink pad
Versa Mark Ink Pad
Jewel Picker
Exacto knife
Tape Runner
Stampin' Up! dimensionals
Liquid multi media glue (with a fine tip)

Steps:

1) Using the intricate die out of the Cross die set I cut a black and a yellow cross. You will want to make sure you keep track of all the little pieces from the yellow cut.

2) Using an exacto knife or a picker remove all the pieces from the black die cut and glue it onto the white scrap of cardstock.

3) Then remove the small pieces from the yellow die cut. Using your liquid glue with a fine tip place a small dot of glue into the spaces of the black design where you want to fill with yellow.
*tip* This is where it is handy to have a jewel picker or using the tip of the exacto knife to put        those little pieces into the spaces*
All the yellow pieces will fit flush in the black frames, just make sure you put the right pieces into the matching holes. Like doing a jigsaw puzzle.

4) Once you get the pattern that you would like all filled in, you will use the cross frame to cut the intricate design out of the white cardstock. Put to the side.
*tip*  if you want a more finished look, use a black marker to color the cut edges black*

5) Stamp the white cardstock that was precut 3 1/4 x4 1/4. You will want to stamp the swag stamp from the Hold on to Hope set. I stamped it twice to show on each side of the cross. Make sure you stamp high enough on the card so that the image is partially covered by the cross that you had cut out.

6) Mat the white cardstock onto the black cardstock, and then mat those onto the cardbase.

7) Using the dimensional pop dots, place dots along the backside of the cross, and then center it onto the stamped images.

8) Stamp "Hold on to Hope" stamp onto the white  1/2" strip.  Trim to desired length.

9) Mat the white strip on to the black 3/4" strip. Cut to frame out the white strip.

10) Used your tape runner to glue the sentiment onto the center of the card below the cross.

11) Stamp the corner vine image onto the corners of the card using the Versa Mark ink.

12) If you would like cut a white square and tape onto the inside of the card to stamp another sentiment.
