Waterfront

Hi and Happy Wednesday.

I have been super busy with all these events going on lately. I had an amazing time at the OnStage conference for Stampin' Up. I won some awesome prizes. They gave away some great products that I'm not allowed to share quite yet. Soon...very soon.

(Me winning at life...ha ha ha)

I'm also getting ready for summer and all that goes along with that! Beach vacations, hiking, and camping for the Gilsons. We really enjoy being outside in the summer. The stamp set that I am showing off today was a great one that came out in the Occasions catalog and it helped shake off those winter blues. It's called Waterfront. It's a photopolymer set that are designed to stamp images like they are a watercolor painting. It's beautiful, especially if you enjoy the look of watercolor. The images are of mountains, pine trees, palm trees, water, and even a little hut or a log cabin. It's very versatile and can be stamped in so many different scenes. The images help you create a beachfront view or a mountain view. I love both so I've been playing around with different scenes.

My favorite so far is the monotone lake view scene I created. I found the inspiration from Pintrest. (I πŸ’“ that site). It's done with only Memento Black Tuxedo Ink. I have stamped it on 2 different types of paper. Whisper White Thick card stock and Whisper White Glossy Paper. Both have amazing results, but there are a few things to be aware of with the glossy. The ink is slower to dry so be careful to not smudge when you stamp it. I also heard rumor that the ink on glossy will fade over time. I am currently testing that theory. I will get back to you on that. The ink seems to sit on top of the glossy rather than absorb into the paper like it does for the thick card stock. Maybe that is why it could fade. The 2nd generation stamping on the glossy is a little darker too. It doesn't seem to get that faded look you really want when trying to get dimension.

Another attempt with waterfront I make a mountain sunset. It's a simple card and very nice as a quick project for thank you or hello type cards. I stamped the mountain where I wanted it and then masked off the mountain with a sticky post it note, and stamped the sun on that. It allows the image to appear to be setting behind the mountain. I used a sponge dauber to create the water. The card base was a sentiment in the set that stamped with Versa Mark ink  repeatedly.

I also created a tag with the mountain scene. I used the same technique with the monotone except I used color inks. I find that the best way to stamp these type of scenes is to start from the background and work your way to the foreground of the scene. Basically if you want to make that scene, you would stamp your mountains first. If you want to make it look like there are mountains behind the first image, you would do a 2nd generation stamp off to the side so it looks like it's fading in the back. Then stamp your water. It's ok if you overlap the edge of the water image on the edge of the first row of mountains. Just make sure the ink on the mountain isn't too dark or it will show through the water. I stamped my first image dark in the center and then I did 2nd generation images off to the side and overlapped it with the first. Then I did all the trees. I just overlapped and made my forest in the shape I wanted. After I stamped all the images I used the Aqua brush over the whole image to fill in any white spots between the trees and the water. I also used it to do the sky.  All you can do is play with it and practice with it. It take a little  time to figure out the stamping techniques. It's a lot fun and a beautiful set. Remember too this is a nature scene. NOTHING in nature is perfect😁.

This was done using the northern lights technique. It's sooooo beautiful. I have a video on my Youtube channel on how to do the northern lights. Go check it out.

Well, I hope you will try this set out. It's called Waterfront and it's in the Occasions catalog. That catalog ends May 31st, so be sure you go through that one and get all the goodies before they are gone.

Happy Crafting 🐧🐧
